Who is eligible?
Any child from birth to age five who lives in Waltham, MA (ZIP codes 02451, 02452, 02453 and 02454). Families never pay anything.
When will the first book arrive?
Usually within about two months of signing up. If it's been longer than that, get in touch and we'll look into it.
I have more than one child under five. Can I enroll them all?
Yes. Please enroll each child. Siblings at least a year apart in age receive different books matched to their age, and twins each get their own copy.
What happens if we move?
If you move within Waltham, just let us know your new address and the books will follow you. If a book is returned as undeliverable, we'll reach out to update your details.
If you move out of Waltham, check imaginationlibrary.com to see whether there's a program where you're headed.
Are books available in other languages?
Several books on each year's list are bilingual in English and Spanish. You can request Spanish-language books when you enroll. Other languages aren't available at this time.
My child is blind or visually impaired. Are there options?
Yes. The Imagination Library works with the American Printing House for the Blind to offer many of its books in braille and audio formats. Learn more from APH.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
We're finalizing our nonprofit fiscal sponsor. Once that's in place, donations will be tax-deductible and you'll receive a receipt for your records.
Where does my money go?
Donations pay for the books and the postage to mail them, which comes to about $31 per child per year. We're volunteer-run and keep overhead to a minimum.
Can I donate by check?
Yes. We'll post mailing instructions here as soon as our fiscal sponsor and mailing address are set up.
